On January **, ****. I purchased Hyundai Venue IMT Turbo (bought from Popular Hyundai, Geethanjali Jn, Vyttila, Cochin). On **th March, just * months of buying my car, one morning the vehicle gave a shudder and then stopped. I turned on the engine once again, but was unable to shift gears. I tried switching off the car and the gears work normally when engine is switched off. This happened a few times, and I got tensed, since this was a new car and it was not supposed to give me any problems. The service centre was not open on Sunday and I could not get any help from Roadside Assistance either as my problem did not occur on roadside but inside my parking. However, after about an hour, when I tried again, there was no issue and it worked fine!
On **th March, around *.**AM, the exact same issue reoccurred and below are the events that followed:
- Unlike the previous day, since the issue did not get rectified by itself, I called the Service Centre Manager, but help did not come for well over * hours
- The technician who inspected the vehicle, informed this has never happened before and had no clue on fixing it.
- He said the vehicle needs to be towed to the Service Centre for further inspection and scanning
- I had to call Roadside Assistance and do the booking for my brand new vehicle to be towed
- I had to physically push the car to the road so the RSA team can take my vehicle away, by **PM
- By * PM, the technician still had no clue about the issue and that this needs to be escalated to the company directly.
It took * days for them to identify the issue and give a fix.
What's concerning me is this is a brand new car -and no one is able to tell me what is wrong with it. The anguish, the embarrassment, the disappointment I'm facing, not to mention the effort of going through all this is unexplainable. Let's say if people could tell me - this is the issue and this is how we are fixing it then I would have been slightly relieved. However, the information I have received from the Service Centre indicates that this might be a defect with manufacturing. Service center also told me that they had informed Hyundai and the company accepted it as a manufacturing issue and allowed free replacement part to fix.
Even though I had written complaint to Hyundai service and sales directly, there was no response still.
The issue was fixed and I got the vehicle back. But * months later, today (**th June ****), the issue occurred again right in the middle of a heavy traffic while I was taking my wife for vaccination. I was unable to shift the gear and the vehicle gives a shudder and stops. I turned off and tried again with no luck. Repeated turning off and on for * time and it worked the *th time. But now I am worried that the issue not fixed and its a genuine manufacturing defect from the company. I cannot trust this vehicle anymore since I might be left stranded in the middle of the road anytime. I called up the Customer Relationship Manager of the dealer and he said he will arrange a call back which did not happen. I called again after * hours and he told the same again. Vechicle currently is just less than * months old and constantly giving the same issue. Service or the response from the company is NIL.
