Syntax Typing - Work from home scam

Antony Bibbin John filed complaint against Syntax Typing on Apr 2, 2019

I’m a resident of Bangalore and returned from overseas on **th March after being laid off by my company in Oman due to the economic depression in the region. At age ** searching for opportunities in India, I got introduced to M/s. Syntax Typing, Office # **, Dhruv Complex, Near Maharani Temple, Boring Road, Patna, Bihar ****** by an online portal Quikr.com for work from home opportunity for Online Form Filling assignment”, of *** pages in * days. Syntax Typing had sent me a contract (attached) on Saturday, March **rd, followed by login ID and password on Monday, **th March,**.**AM mentioning target submission date as *st April ****.
As is evident from the trail mails enclosed below. Beginning **th March ****, I had been in discussion with Syntax and their Agent on emails, calls, and Whatsapp on number ********** to address concerns of login concerns, server slow down, form page freezing, intermittent jumping of form fields, etc, and I was assured callback by their technical team to solve the issue. I had also informed the agent that I was stopping work due to the server slows down and we would have to relook the submission dates to which they agreed. But none from their technical team contacted me or resolved the issue and the server slow down seemed deliberate to prevent candidates from finishing their assignments as per target dates and lock them into the Rs.**** penalty clause as per contract.
Subsequently, I had sent them several emails requesting clarity of contract and resolution of technical issues to which I never received a response from Syntax. I had again tried contacting their agent on Whatsapp requesting cancellation of assignment/contract to which she responded that Senior manager would call me and quickly went offline and refused to take my calls on number **********. Immediately after this, I received a reminder from another email formfilling.cc@gmail.com mentioning I wasn’t progressing in my work and would attract a penalty to which I’d responded with Syntax Typing <syntaxtyping.cc@outlook.com> in the copy that I had suspended all work due to technical issues which remained unresolved despite several emails and calls to Syntax. There was silence from Syntax until yesterday and today I receive an email from the Syntax Legal Team threatening action and to pay up a penalty of Rs. **** instead of Rs.**** as per contract failing which they would take legal action and their email threatens “’we do have your Aadhar card details with us. So we can deteriorate your CIBIL rating as well in course of nonsubmission of your penalty amount. You can find lots of issues with your banking procedures also then. In order to dissolve this matter and save the time of both the parties, you may proceed with the penalty amount of Rs **** at the earliest. As soon as you will pay the amount you will get NOC (No objection certificate) from our company”.
Unemployed at the moment and now blackmailed by Syntax who are threatening my peace and legal action and threats to harass and misuse my Aadhar Card and possibly hack into my Bank Accounts to cause me harm. I request Voxya to kindly intervene and grant me reprieve and protection in my case.

Hi,
This has come to our notice that you did not submit the work with the desired accuracy even after bounded with the contract terms. As per the contract you have agreed upon certain terms such as to complete *** forms with **% accuracy within the stipulated time of * days but you are failed to do so and which is why we have incurred losses. We provided you with the work at no cost for the quality work from your end however, you have let us down.
Now, as per the terms and conditions mentioned in the legal agreement you are supposed to pay the penalty of Rs **** (**** portal charges + **** penalty amount) as soon as possible to the below-mentioned account. We have to transfer this amount to our end client for not submitting their project with accuracy and on a given period of time otherwise, it will lead to legal consequences.

This has reference to below emails to Syntax seeking response to queries related to contract of **th March **** and getting no response from your office till date nor do we see any action from customer support to resolve the intermittent login issues, server slow down, and form page freeze issues mentioned in below emails causing assignment to be put on hold, which was was also informed to agent by call during *st half of **th March, and ultimately defeats a candidate's effort to meet stipulated targets and timelines as per contract. I'd also like to bring to your notice that Whatsapp messages to your agent GSM ********** aren't being read or responded to since yesterday after my emails to your office. Citing the above reasons and failing to hear from Syntax despite several emails, messages, and reminders, I'm given to assume that Syntax has read through all correspondence and has terminated my contract.
Regards,
Antony

Further to below email, I would also like to add that complaints of login issues, server slow down at your end, freezing of form page, and intermittent jumping of fields on form page was hampering filling process, and was immediately informed to your agent via call for redressal today and was assured assistance from customer support team, but got no calls nor was any action taken, also adding to slow down and unreliability of assigned work to meet the stipulated completion deadline.

Please refer to below emails to Syntax: syntaxtyping.cc@outlook.com, pending clarifications to which I've got no response, and my final email request to terminate the contract after receiving no response to my previous emails.

Kindly note that I have surprisingly got a reminder message from another email formfilling.cc@gmail.com, only after I emailed Syntax raising doubts on your contract and work for which I've received no answers from syntaxtyping.cc@outlook.com which is the email I corresponded to till date. As advised in my previous emails, I am not willing to take up this assignment any further until I see proof of payments and get to hear reviews from candidates who have completed assignments and got paid. Your lack of response raises doubts, hence Please cancel my enrollment immediately.

Antony

Kindly note that I received no suitable response from Syntax to my below email seeking clarifications on assignment and payment proofs, and also your agent during calls or WhatsApp messaging is unable to provide any answers or clarifications and keeps referring to some Senior manager who will contact me, nor has anyone contacted me till now.

I am highly uncomfortable with a company which cannot provide answers or validate legitimate queries to candidates enrolling for your work from home assignments. Hence I request you to kindly cancel my enrollment immediately

Dear Sir / Madam

This refers our conversations with your agent this morning on GSM ********** at **.**AM with regards to the ***-page form typing assignment which is to be completed in * days. As discussed I had assessed the volume of work assigned, and being an expert data entry operator with speed and accuracy of nearly *** wpm, it is very clear that this volume cannot be completed in * days even by an expert. I had asked your agent to provide proof of candidates who have completed such volumes successfully so that I could speak to them on their achievements, or show proof of payments made for works so far and received no response. I had also made mention that I am highly suspicious of this job, and suspending my work with immediate effect until I get reasonable answers and clarity from Syntax, and I was told by your agent that a Senior Manager from Syntax would call my number and speak to me, but received no calls so far. Kindly note that I've suspended all works on this assignment until I get clarity from Syntax on the work and payments and especially proof that candidates are getting paid for all the hard work they put in, and would also like to speak to candidates who have apparently completed assignments according to you

I once again reiterate that the volume of *** forms is not achievable in * days, and what was discussed before the project and what is being assigned to me by Syntax is totally different. I'm given to understand that candidates finish almost **-** per cent of the job and aren't paid by the company citing errors and **% accuracy. This way Syntax gets almost **% of the job done with accuracy by candidates which is then compiled with the balance **% also completed by other candidates and then submitted to the client. The syntax is paid in full, whereas the candidates are not since they are unable to complete within the time frame, and also bound by accuracy parameters. Kindly note that I await a proper response from Syntax before I can proceed any further
Regards,
Antony
