Our water bill for months of March **** and April **** is abnormally and impossibly high (₹*** and ₹**** respectively). We consume *-* units usually (since the last ** years), but in the months of March **** the meter reads ** units consumption and in the month of April **** the meter reads ** units of consumption. (* unit = **** litres; Source - Water bill)
A **mm line fills a * litre bottle in ** seconds at peak pressure and the water line is active for * hours or **** seconds with variable pressure. Assuming that the line is at peak pressure for all **** seconds there is an inlet flow of approx *** litres of water in a day.
We cannot possibly use ***-*** litres of water per day as no family resides in the unit and it is occupied by a *am to *pm commercial office with one toilet.
Even after assuming that we use ***-*** litres of water each day or the monthly consumption of approx ***** litres; that is equivalent to a maximum of ** units of water consumed .
The meter reading of ** and ** units is impossible even after accounting for all the leaks and errors as the inflow of water cannot exceed *** litres per day and monthly inflow of ***** litres per month.
We sparsely use water and our *-* unit billing in months prior to March **** proves that months of March and April **** are anomalies and mathematically highly improbable.
We submitted an application for meter testing but your employee reported that the check nut that is used by the lab for testing was mysteriously damaged and hence meter testing was not possible. The bill cannot be corrected because a faulty meter cannot be tested because of a damaged check nut. Upon approaching the office an employee of OCW told me that if we pay the wrong bill he will replace my meter immediately.
