Manipal Hospitals HAL Bangalore - Medical Negligence

I want to lodge a complaint against the negligence faced by us in Manipal Hospitals. Kindly look into the below and assist.

My father, Ashok Patel was brought to Manipal hospital in HAL Bangalore on the **th of June around *.** PM. He was brought because he had seizures and has been weak. He had phlegm issue from a year and so we thought of getting his chest cleared of it too for the phlegm. His main concern was seizures and brain issues due to possible dementia.

Lot of tests followed and later they also wanted to perform a Covid test. Which is completely fine. We were told on **th evening that the sample is being sent for Covid testing and we will get the results in ** hours (around * PM the next day which was **th June). They told us until the reports arrive he needs to be kept in the isolation ward and we were assured he will be provided all the care and attention.

Next day, that is the **th of June, we get a call saying the patient Ashok Patel has fallen from his bed. We weren't informed about any injuries. We go to the hospital and meet a sister on *th floor named Sylvia. When questioned about the negligence, she tells us they are extremely sorry and he isn't that hurt. She tells us there is a small injury on his forehead which has been dressed and taken care of. When asked about the Covid reports, she says it takes ** hours so we need to wait. When confronted that it was ** hours and how it changed now she sends us to meet Dr. Neha Mishra. Dr. Neha tells us the small injury we were being fooled with is actually deep enough that they had to put stitches. We also hear due to some goof up the samples haven't been sent to the lab at all! At this point i can see how careless and negligent the Hospital has been! They kept my father in isolation ward without sending his samples for testing in first place. Then they are so negligent that they let him fall from bed and get him severely injured! I didn't even get to see him nor his injuries. On **th his samples are sent for Covid testing and it comes positive on the **th. This is shocking because he has not left the house in the last one year. And none of us in the family have Covid. He got Covid because of their negligence. Because of keeping him in isolation ward for nothing! Because the samples weren't sent the day we got him to the hospital, i am sure this is because of the careless staff! My father was got there to get better. But they have worsen his condition. They got him injured and now got him infected with Covid! I sent emails to have this investigated asap. But nobody looked into it. This is dangerous for anyone coming to Manipal Hospital. Moreover, a patient falling from bed is considered carelessness and negligence of hospital by law. I asked them to send me his pictures and all the reports, but they never did. Me and my family is quarantined because of the careless Hospital. I couldn't even go to the Hospital. Later, i did get to make video call to check on my Father. The injury is too bad. I doubt if he even has Covid because they said he has no symptoms. I requested zillion times for a retest but they never did. Below is the list of goof ups, misses and negligence that happened in the Hospital.

*. The sample wasn't sent for Covid testing on the **th of June and my Father was kept in the Isolation ward, making him prone to getting an infection in the ward. Which apparently happened, since me and and family dont have this infection. My father hasn't left the house in a year now, so it is impossible to get Covid sitting at house unless it travels in air.

*. On **th Morning, he fell from his bed and has injured his head. Photo of the injury attached. I have no idea what other harm they have caused.

*. I ask the doctor's assistant to fill up the insurance form and she fills it with incorrect details. Under pre existing diseases she mentions the patient has diabetes and hypertension when he has none! Speaking to Dr. Neha, who then corrects the form and agrees he has nothing of the above. Such carelessness makes me wonder if his Covid reports were also incorrect?

Manipal Hospitals being one of the best, this was not expected. However, i am shocked at the experience i have had. Now they are charging us for a disease they gave my father in the hospital and also the head injury. They give him the injury and Covid Infection in the Hospital and treat him and ask us to pay for it. Please look into this. We want to make sure this doesn't happen to other patients. I am still waiting for the reports and all the details. Nobody sent me anything apart from bills. For last * weeks we have suffered such mental torture and stress that is unexplainable. Now they have made bills for around * lakhs and said my father will be discharged. All of this was the Hospital's negligence. We should be getting compensation for such carelessness my Father suffered due to the Hospital. I wish no one gets to go through the pain we as a family went through. Kindly help me.
