Somewhere in October, ****, I was looking for purchasing my first car/ vehicle, suitable to my family’s needs.
While looking for a vehicle suitable to my needs, I visited the authorised dealer of Tata Motors, after analysing my requirements for a safe and sturdy vehicle for school commute for my son and for my wife’s use, the representative of Tata Motors, authorised dealer strongly suggested to purchase a “Tata Hexa” which is a full-size crossover SUV.
I was repeatedly assured about the brand value of the products and the product’s features were praised & presented to me in such a manner that I, totally relying and believing upon the representations and assurances given by the Tata Motors’ Authorized Dealer to be true and genuine, had purchased the Tata Hexa SUV. Please note that this was my first car of my life and the only vehicle I own till date.
With grief, I must state that after purchasing the brand-new car in October ****, I went on a trip with my family. However, the brand-new vehicle, on the way to Uttarakhand broke down near Rishikesh, after which, it was towed & taken by a TATA Motors Dealer workshop of Dehradun, who made some temporary arrangements in the vehicle, and the vehicle was brought back to Delhi. After which the vehicle was taken to the authorised workshop in Delhi and they found some electrical fault and apparently repaired the same. Meanwhile, my family’s vacation was absolutely ruined.
Thereafter, in May ****, there was problem with the power steering as the same became hard/stiff and the oil was leaking. In another weeks’ time, the Power Steering was again giving trouble and hence, was again sent to the workshop for repairs.
Thereafter, within a month of the vehicle being on road, there was another problem with locking system of the vehicle and the same was sent to the workshop again. Again, after about * months on road, the vehicle was sent for repairs due to malfunction in the windshield wipers and washers, seemed to be some electrical fault again.
Thereafter again after about * months on road, in the year ****, within a year of purchase, there was a problem with the engine of the vehicle as the same was overheating and started making high-level noise of screeching. Moreover, insufficient braking issues also developed.
I had to again send the vehicle to the workshop as the seat belts were mal functioning in the month of January ****. Again, within a week, the vehicle encountered repeat windshield wiper and washer issues. In the month of March ****, I again faced Engine Overheating problems and the vehicle was again sent to the workshop for repairs. This was followed by repeat issues of Power Steering in the month of May ****.
Again, in the first week of July **** the vehicle was again sent to the workshop due to a scary screeching noise from the Engine. Thereafter, there were various scheduled and un-scheduled visits to the workshop, despite the major services (November ****) and repeated visits, which caused further harm and injuries to me and my family.
I, in the year ****, needed to take the car out of town due to my business/family commitments, however, due to terrible and frightening past experiences with the vehicle, the reliability of the vehicle was a big question mark. Hence, the vehicle was not recommended to be taken out of town. In case of emergencies, the same was taken with extra materials such as engine oil, coolant, brake oil, wiper blades, headlight lamps, etc. which caused heavy monitory loss to me.
In the year ****, the problems with the engine continued as it was making high-level noise and coolant was also leaking. Further, the brakes, door locks and the washers were again not working efficiently in addition to the reducing cooling efficiency of the Air Conditioner.
Thereafter, in the month of October ****, after clearance from the Company workshop, the vehicle was driving my family to Mussoorie for a holiday and the vehicle broke down again with transmission issues. Again, the vehicle was taken to an Authorized Tata Motors Workshop and they made some makeshift arrangement for the vehicle to be driven back to Delhi. The workshop in Delhi identified the transmission issues and replaced the relevant part. Since, that day, till today, gear lever shifting mechanism has been faulty for which there have been multiple scheduled and non-scheduled visits to the workshop.
In December ****, the vehicle faced repeat car overheating problem in addition to air conditioning issues. Thereafter in the year ****; apart from the repeated problems with engine, repeated electrical issues with related mal-functions, Air conditioning and brakes in-efficiency, the gear box of the vehicle also started causing harassment to me and my family. The vehicle visited the workshop for the latest gear box mal-function and was returned stating that the required adjustment has been made. However, the plight continues till date.
Recently, August ****, the vehicle again broke down in the middle of a densely busy road of Karol Bagh while I was with my wife and my ** year old son. This incident created great magnitude of havoc, inconveniences and traffic jam with my son and wife were in the car – the electricals of which had failed and hence they were unable to roll down the windows in the absence of Air Conditioning failure.
Since, the breakdown of the vehicle had created a major traffic jam, some local mechanic appeared and checked the vehicle and suggested to get the battery changed. The same was done immediately at my expense however, the vehicle again broke down in Lajpat Nagar, on its way to my residence. With paramount struggle and strain, I managed to get my family and the vehicle back home. Only after numerous follow ups, the vehicle was towed to the workshop after atleast ** hours.
This was a supremely and categorically deprived experience for my wife and my ** year old son and hence I write this letter to your goodself.
With regret, I must state that each and every time, whenever the vehicle was taken to the workshop, it was kept there for several days, it caused great inconveniences, especially to my son (school commute) and my wife as this is the only vehicle owned by me. The authorized workshop always returned the vehicle back with the assurance that all the problems have been resolved. However, the same were only false promises as the vehicle still showed various repeat problems which unnecessary caused hurdles, mental trauma and inconveniences to me and my family.
Sir, from the aforesaid repeated problems, it is clear and evident that the vehicle definitely has manufacturing defects, and it was faulty right from the very beginning, still, the same was not changed/replaced despite various requests and complaints. Moreover, Tata Motors/ authorised dealers have failed to provide satisfactory service, as promised and have been intentionally and deliberately avoiding resolving my problems for several years despite various requests and reminders.
Sir, I have suffered and continue to suffer mental harassment and agony to a great extent. Me and my wife have been suffering from mental pressure of losing my hard-earned money spent on this very expensive vehicle which had manufacturing defects and then was on a never-ending repair and maintenance of its inbuilt faulty parts.
In view of the above stated facts and circumstances, I hereby request your good-self to kindly look into this matter and have it resolved in a manner as deemed fit by you, sir as I along with my family has suffered on many fronts after the purchase of this vehicle.
Sir, I really look up to you and the empire that you have created and hence I have been very patiently trying to bear with this vehicle. Sir, it is not possible now as my family has really suffered and I must demand my rights as a customer.
