- Interest subsidy was not given claimed by the bank in education loan Open
This is regarding an education loan which I took from Canara Bank in Jan **** for my * year long graduation.
The loan was taken under the EWS category (Economically Weaker Section) under this section as per the IBA notification any student avail the loan will have to pay no internet during the moratorium and this interest had to be borne by the government of India.
I availed the loan in * emis **,***+**,***+*,**,*****=*,**,***
As soon as I completed my graduation, I informed the bank by sending them an email date * july **** and asked for the repayment plan and the applicable interest rate going forward. The bank responded and informed me what I asked for.
I paid my first EMI as **,***, second one **,*** and then I requested bank to give me a statement. I was under the impression that my outstanding would be (Loan Taken Amount*,**,***-**,*** which I paid in first * emis+first month interest) total sum I assumed *,**,***-*,**,*** but bank showed me an outstanding of rupees *,**,*** (overdue amount was * at that time), from that point I’m running behind the bank to clarify the things and they kept trying to trap me in several self made stories and I kept them pushing with the justification of my points but bank never bothered to do anything for me.
Bank: You did not furnish income proof every year
Me: I showed them a copy of RTI where it was cleary mentioned that income proof submission is a one time practice.
Bank: Govt. doesn’t give guarantee to provide subsidy
Me: As per the Indian Banking Association (IBA) notification all the student who availed the loan under EWS scheme has to pay no interest, ***% interest will be borne by the govt of India.
And so on…
I sent many emails to bank, visited the branch, regional office, met with officials but no outcome.
One good day, the head office of Canara bank based out of Bengaluru responded to one of my emails that “the branch did not claim the interest subsidy on CSIS Portal (govt portal to claim the interest subsidy) for the FY ****-**, ****-**, ****-** & ****-** (I have the mail) and assured me that they will forward my email to branch and circle office Lucknow to ascertain the reason for non-claim of subsidy for the mentioned years and will ask them to resolve the issue. I was advised to visit the branch, I visited, showed them that email but the manager kept on making me feel that I’m a wilful defaulter, he did not accept his mistake while his Heads accepted the mistake but that person did not accept anything.
They kept raiding my home, pushing my family members to make the payment (I stay in Delhi)
Kept on sending letters and in response to all of them I kept on visiting and meeting the manager to ask for a resolution but they kept asking me to pay and go which I denied. I can’t pay for the wrongdoing of others.
The last letter they sent me last month showing the outstanding *,**,*** and warned me to file a suit in court if I don’t pay the money.
This is a complete dictatorship, why should I pay for what I have not done.
They are torturing me since **** and I’m still standing and asking for the resolution for their mistake which impacted me brutally, no bank giving me loans for my needs for they sucked my cibil to shy
And, now they filed a suit.
I need to deal with them the same way, legally.
*. They must waive off all the interest and penalties and regularise my account.
*. They must pay me for the years of harassment and for the expense fighting a case against them.
*. They must withdraw the suit they have filed on me and posed me as a wilful defalter.
*. My cibil score to be corrected.
