Ford India - Ford Ecoboost Engine Failure
Zahir Ansari filed complaint against Ford India on Jun 30, 2022
I own a Ford Ecoboost *.* petrol liter engine car, **** Model, my family and close relatives own around ** Ford cars, a mix of various models, and we all adore these machines. However, I recently witnessed an occurrence that made me unhappy and concerned, and now all of my relatives are terrified.
On June *, ****, while driving back home, my car began vibrating and shaking, and the engine misfired. I took it to the nearest Ford service centre, and after ** days of diagnostics, they are recommending that a part of engine shall be replaced since a piston is broken, and they have presented me with a hefty price of around ***,*** INR (approx. $ ****) to repair the car.
Some facts about the car:
- My car has no accidental history, not even minor accidents.
- It has no external work done.
- No outside mechanic has ever touched this car. - Engine is opened for the first time by ford while diagnosing this current issue.
- It has no repairs at all (Aside from the coolant leakage issue, which was a global problem with this Ecoboost *.* lit. petrol engine. In my instance, coolant leaked and the company replaced the thermostat body, and after running **k km, my car's engine failed within a year of service)
- It has service history with ford authorized service centres
- It is well maintained so far, there is no major issue that is reported because of me.
- The Service centre has checked the fuel sample as well of the car but it seems that there is nothing suspicious observed in the fuel test as well, it is all ok.
- The car is a **** model, so it is out of warranty, but that should not be an excuse to ignore the request because I could have died from such an unexpected automatic engine failure.
Ford is ready to contribute **% of the part cost (not the complete repair). Which seems unjust to me because:
*. I am failing to understand my fault in this entire situation, was it that I trusted the brand?
*. The offer is made only on part, not on the entire repair cost.
*. The incident that has happened is not due to any external damage, or accident from the customer's end. It seems to be an internal mechanical problem.
*. Company is failing to provide the exact cause of the issue.
*. Instead of replacing the broken engine part, the company wants to replace the complete engine block, which is increasing the repair cost, why should customer bear this cost if company can't provide child part.
**** model Ecoboost *.* lit engine has many issues reported online. How can we confirm that the incident is not linked with any reported incidents, please see below reference links :

In this scenario, it looks that warranty and service history are being used as an excuse to disregard the root source of the problem. I am still willing to have the car repaired, but all I ask is that Ford extend a helping hand a little further and bear the ** percent cost of the part rather than the ** percent that have been offered because it clearly appears to be a mechanical issue, not the customer's fault, and further Ford is not providing the child part instead asking to replace the entire block, which is increasing the cost of repair.
So, kindly accept my humble request and bear at least **-** percent of the cost of the part; I will be grateful. Otherwise, please make the child part available (single piston), and I would gladly have the broken piston replaced rather than rebuilding the complete engine block.
So, Its my humble request with Ford to bear at least ** percent of the cost of the part; I will be grateful. Otherwise, please make the child part available (single piston), and I would gladly have the broken piston replaced rather than rebuilding the complete engine block.
