I had booked a courier service at Gauri Shankar Courier & Cargo shop in Udaipur, Chowkidinghee, Dibrugarh, Assam on **/**/**** for delivery of my application for recruitment package (filled in Applications, Xeroxed Certificates, DD of Rs ****) at Bhattadev University, Bajali, Pathsala, Assam India. The last date of application to be received by the University was **/**/****.
The courier responsible person of the Courier shop, told me not to worry a bit and that my parcel would reach the destination well before time. He also assured me that they have responsible persons in the said region, who will deliver my parcel. So, I had booked my parcel with them. But till the *nd day, after that, came to know that my parcel still hadn’t gone from the office. On enquiry, it was told that the parcel has been booked and so will go in a lot. He told me to stay calm without any doubt. Receipt of the parcel booking was given to me. The person also told that I could enquire it from the website the movement of my parcel.
I also thought of giving the process some time. After *-* days, on enquiry through the website link, came to know that no parcels are these in my name and the software failed to locate it.
On enquiry with the Courier shop, I was told that their Pathsala office has been closed and as such, the parcel is in Guwahati and has not moved from there. I was told that they had no idea about the closure of their office in Pathsala. But I was again told not to worry, as they will speak to the Guwahati office to send my parcel to the intended address, from there itself.
Each day, I enquired later on, I was told that works are going on to send my parcel and also that it’ll reach the destination before time. After *-* days, when I had enquired over the phone, the same boy looking after the courier activities in the shop threatened me not to disturb them and let them do their work. He even told me that this is first and last time, they are going to take any parcel from me. I went to the shop, and when I asked the reason for his outbursts at me, then he felt sorry and asked for my forgiveness.
Putting such trivial matters aside, when I enquired about my parcel, I was again told that the parcel will reach on time. I was even given a phone contact of the responsible person in Guwahati, who is looking into the whole process.
On further contact with the new person in Guwahati, I came to know from him that the parcel is in Guwahati and will be sent to the address as soon as possible.
More days passed. I didn’t give further thought with the feeling that my parcel will be delivered within time.
But form the last two-three days (since *th-*th May’ ****) I had repeatedly called both the persons, with no reply from anyone. Today also, when I called to get the confirmation, nobody picked my call. When I went to the particular courier shop, I came to know that my parcel couldn’t be delivered and as such it will be sent back.
This is the price what I had to pay for believing in the not-so reputed courier service provider. I want proper justice. Please look into the matter and take appropriate actions, so that no future persons are effected.
