I rented the cell phone product under the policy of rent to own by the company in Feb ****. This particular products market price at that time was about ***** rupees and I was supposed to own it after a period of ** months as per my subscription. And at the time of delivery of the product in February the executive who came to get the papers for the subscription signed explicitly mentioned and told me that the product will be mine after a period of ** months and that I just need to pay for the monthly rental. after the completion of ** months when i asked the company to close the subscription since I wanted to own the product I was asked to pay another **.*k to own the product over and above the amount that I have been paying for ** months. They told that there is only a option where I can own the product by paying a certain amount while this was not informed when enquired about during the renting of the product. I denied to pay at that time and they started putting penalties for non payment of the rent. I paid it for yet another ** months i.e. in total ** months costing me **.*k over and above the deposit amount of *.*k and now again when I raised the complaint and denied to pay further, I am again asked to pay further **** to own the product and that from the deposit the last month's and current months rent will be cut. That's like charging a total of about **k for a product whose cost is **k. Already they have took more than **k for this including ** months rent and a deposit.
This is plain corporate bullying and looting the customer in pretext of certain policies which were even unknown to the rentomoj's executives who come to get the documents signed for renting. I was completely misinformed by the rentomojo and now I'm being looted unnecessarily. this is completely unethical and disappointing. especially at times when people are laid down from jobs due to surge in covid cases and during a pandemic.
