I am filing this complaint against UpGrad Education Pvt. Ltd. for misleading advertising, financial exploitation, and failure to provide promised services for its Hybrid MSBA program with Golden Gate University (GGU), USA.
Nature of the Complaint:
False Claims of Visa Approval Rates: UpGrad misled students by falsely advertising a high visa success rate for its U.S. hybrid programs. After completing the initial coursework in India, many students (including myself) were denied education loans and visas due to eligibility issues that UpGrad failed to disclose before enrollment.
False Accreditation Claims: UpGrad falsely advertised the program as AACSB-accredited, creating a false impression of legitimacy. However, GGU’s MBA program is not AACSB-accredited, and students later discovered that their degrees held little value for global recognition or credit transfers.
Financial Losses & Academic Disruption: I paid ₹*,**,*** for this program based on these false assurances and invested over a year, only to find myself unable to continue my education due to financial and legal roadblocks.
Legal Harassment & Online Abuse: After raising my concerns publicly, UpGrad and its associates have intimidated me with legal threats (Cease & Desist notices) and online abuse to silence my complaint.
Unethical Visa & Loan Assistance: UpGrad’s visa assistance services were handled by unqualified staff, and students were asked to share personal login credentials for their visa applications, which is an unethical and potentially illegal practice.
Relief Sought:
Full refund of ₹*,**,*** paid for the program.
Compensation for financial loss, mental agony, and time wasted due to UpGrad’s deceptive practices.
Investigation into UpGrad’s false marketing claims regarding accreditation, visa approvals, and loan eligibility.
Legal action against UpGrad for misleading students and violating consumer rights.
I request the Consumer Protection Authority to take strict action against UpGrad and ensure that students are not trapped in similar scams in the future.
