This is a complaint against paltry "refund Rs. *,***-" for unused portion of my international ticket, received from Virgin Atlantic airlines and/or travel agency makemytrip.com. This is despite the fact that I could not use the ticket fully because of Covid-** pandemic and airlines changing their schedule at last minute, making it impossible for me to travel.
*. I bought a ticket no. ***-**********-** for travel with Virgin Atlantic airlines (airlines PNR ESCGWZ), from travel agency makemytrip.com, Booking Id: NN*************, for my multi-city international trip for which I paid Rs. *****/- (rupees ninenty seven thousand eight hundred and seven only) including all charges, fees etc. My travel plan was

*. I reached London Heathrow, UK on ** January **** as planned. In March airlines suspended most of their operations due to Covid-** pandemic. I was in touch with airline (Virgin Atlantic - away from home team) and makemytrip.com I was told by Virgin Atlantic that I can go back home to BOM (MUmbai) by Air India repatriation flight after paying their fare and apply for refung after reaching home through my travel agency. On *rd July ****, I got a mail from Delta Airlines, partner of Virgin Atlantic - operating my flights ATL-->ABQ that the flight schedule has changed. The flight was to leave ATL(Atlanta) at **.**am on *th July ****, about * hours before my arrival from London Heathrow. Thus there was no way I could take these flights, nor was there enough time to revise flight schedule.
*. I cancelled my flights and reached Mumbai on **th August **** and applied for refund on **rd August. After waiting for several months and many reminders they sanctioned a refund of Rs. *,***/-, a paltry sum.
*. I protested and got a mail and a phone call from Abhijit Bhattacharya, makemytrip.com. He told me that the refund amount will be inr *****/-. So far it has not materialised and I have been given only inr ****.
*. I can understand if the airline gives me voucher for future travel. Corona pandemic made things difficult for all. My cancellation is due to last minute change in their flight schedule, making it impossible for me to take the flights. They should therefore refund the full amount paid by me.
I am very pleased with Voxya. They helped me resolve my issue without much hassle. Very impressed and satisfied.
