The travel agent Mr. Singh was contacted by my sister in New Delhi on my behalf to book domestic travel within India. I did not realize that she authorized the agent to issue the tickets in my name. The agent's is expected to ask for the full name as per ID, instead he took the order like a waiter in a hotel and booked the flights not in one itinerary but four separate tickets. When you travel to multi cities you get some discounts from airlines and also the fact, I am a senior ** years old. He brushed me off by saying issuing four tickets will let me make changes. My intention of buying tickets was not to make changes. I was travelling on a schedule. When I requested him to contact the airline Indigo to add my last name, he flatly refused that it cannot be done. Under exceptional circumstances my request in any part of the world is handled with care. However both airlines and the travel agent declined quoting rules. I was not asking for change of name. Hence I could not find any solution to any of my concerns. My email trail will demonstrate the attitude of this travel agent, who was not only apologetic but very aggressive, to the extent that he was spewing verbal abuse. Knowing the security across the globe, I found myself unable to get my last name added and out of sheer frustration, I decided to cancel and lost my money including service charges of INR **** taken by the travel agent. My sister also being a senior tried to reason it out with the agent. She is hoping to get some refund and I am not very hopeful considering attitude of the travel agent. I ended up buying a new ticket at almost **,*** paid in foreign exchange. I live in Canada and this experience has not been very pleasant for me. I used to be in the airlines industry in India for over ** years and never ever treated anyone the way this travel agent behaved. My request is to minimize my losses owing to cancellation and having to buy a new ticket, which was totally unnecessary. I wish there are stringent rules of vetting these agents for good customer service ethics. Looking forward to your response.
