Complaint against Furnest Furniture, Gariahat
I am writing this letter to lodge a complaint against Furnest Furniture. I had purchased a bookshelf from the mentioned vendor from their Gariahat showroom on the **nd of November ****. The furniture has * shelves supported by wooden fixtures attached to the inner side of the shelf. After using the bookshelf for a year and * months, it came to our notice that all the * shelves were bent (two of them severely and a little less than the others) and were not able to take the weight of the books stacked on them. We were afraid that with time these shelves shall not able to withhold the pressure of the books and might collapse eventually. So we had brought to the notice of the store manager on the *nd of February, **** the plight of these shelves and the poor quality product that they have supplied. We had also requested to provide replacement with quality shelves, to which the store brought to my notice that they cannot guarantee the quality of the shelves, that in future they will not bend either, even the new replaced ones can have the same issue. Further to this, the store manager had particularly mentioned during the conversation that the shelves are capable of carrying only ** kgs of weight. This information was not made clear at the time of purchase, during which I had particularly mentioned, that I had heavy and thick books which I need to stack in the new bookshelf, to which they had mentioned that the bookshelves were designed for the same just in order for the sales to mature. This convincing attitude on behalf of the store made me move forward with the purchase of a low-quality product that showed its true colors within a year of purchase. Currently, the store has taken away one of the shelves as a sample for replacement but they are too bent on the point that there is no guarantee even on the replaced shelves. Even the new ones may bend in the future or even collapse, and they are not accountable for that. I had also requested a written statement of the replaced items on the points as to what load can they support, and what is product warranty timeline is, to which they have straight away denied me any written documents. So, I sought a refund of the bookshelf, and they denied that as well. They would like to replace the shelves with the same poor-quality ones which is not acceptable to me. Hence, I would like to proceed with legal action against this store.
