Trek the Himalayas - Not allowed to complete the Trek and did not refund the Trek money paid in advance

Sriparna Bandopadhyay filed complaint against Trek the Himalayas on Dec 19, 2023

I was supposed to go for the Kashmir Great Lakes trek from **th to **th of July, ****.
I paid Rs **, *** for the trek which I had paid in March itself and then I paid Rs **** as backpack offloading charge and Rs **** as to and fro travel charges from Srinagar to the Sonamarg base camp.
I was however sent back from the base camp at Sonamarg by the trek leader on the **th of July, since my Blood Pressure (BP) came out suddenly on the higher side when they measured the same in the Sonamarg base camp from where we were supposed to start the trek. Although I was feeling completely fit and was eager to complete the trek I was sent back from the base camp. There I was left sort of in the middle of no where. Added to the disappointment that I could not go for the trek for which I had been preparing for months, I had to bear a lot of additional cost and harassment: return cab fare from Sonamarg to Srinagar which was Rs ****, cancelling my previous flight ticket and then arranging a new one at an earlier date, last minute new hotel booking charges, etc. I have generally normal Blood Pressure (BP) and even now since I am closely monitoring my BP it is mostly normal. My BP went up in the Sonamarg base camp went up due to high altitude as the doctor whom I consulted later after coming back from Srinagar told me that in high altitude BP sometimes gets high. I do not need to take any medicine etc for BP and I am still not taking any medicine for BP. I ma physically fit and cycle my way to and fro my department every day.
I was not aware of this rule or practice of the Trek The Himalayas (TTH ) of sending back trekkers due to high BP and nowhere was it mentioned at the time of booking and even on the intimations I received on various occasions from `Trek The Himalayas' about this practice, which is a new practice. Even trekkers who had been with `Trek The Himalayas' on earlier treks were not aware about this practice which it seems is a new one.
Also nowhere was it mentioned what is the permissible level BP which is allowed and this whole affair came as a rude shock to me.
One of my colleagues (from whom I came to know about `Trek The Himalayas' ) who was also going for the same trek on the **th of July, **** also had the same experience. He was also forbidden to go for the trek, just one day before he was supposed to leave for Kashmir, but he got a refund voucher which he could use for other treks by the same company and is also transferable to others who can go for the trek in your place. He did not initially did not get any response from them but after repeatedly writing to them my colleague got some form of refund.
I wrote to `Trek the Himalayas ' repeatedly either for a cash refund or atleast a refund voucher similar to the one my colleague received so that I could use it for other treks or transfer it to others. But they turned a deaf ear to this request by not replying at all initially and then when after repeated mails they replied they offered that I could take the same trek `Kashmir Great Lakes' trek anytime with the company `Trek the Himalayas' in the next five years free of cost.
This is like giving me nothing, since anybody who completes the trek also gets the offer to repeat the trek in the next five years free of cost.
Also what is the guarantee that they will not send me back again from the base camp again on flimsy grounds, so I cannot take this risk again. And I really don't want to have anything to do with this company again.
I feel like being cheated and discriminated against by the `Trek the Himalayas' taking advantage of me being a woman and hence assuming that I will not raise my voice against this loss and injustice. In addition to the monetary loss and the inconvenience caused by this I went through a lot of mental agony due to repeatedly writing to them and getting no response from them for a long time. After taking money so much in advance in March for the trek in July without any proper guidelines and then cancelling it at the last minute without any form of refund and then not replying to my messages and causing mental agony and harassment is in gross violation of my consumer rights.
The minimum they should do is give me some form of refund which will cover some of the losses I suffered.
At least the trek money and the backpack offloading charge which amounts to a total of Rs *****.
I am also lodging this complaint in the hope that it will serve as a deterrent for the `Trek The Himalayas' to repeat such incidents with others.
