I have a personal loan with HDFC Bank. I took another loan from another bank to close this one and have been trying since January to close but not able to. The problem being, HDFC refuses to provide an online pre closure option and have just *-* branches for a city like Bangalore. When I go to the branch (have vistied at least *-* times this year), it is always packed with customers. You are supposed to take a token and wait for your turn which never comes and you have to again come the very next day and go through the same process all over again with no luck. Now in COVID time also - no respite. The bank expects customers to go to the branch in that crowded atmosphere. I went twice in last * month including yesterday and the place (Indiranagar branch) was closed due to the place being quarantined. They keep finding COVID** + cases in the premise or around it every now and then and still not sympathise with customers and insist us to go the branch and stand in crowded queue. On calling up their help-line no help is forthcoming. A standard dialogue is that lot of customers complaint of the same but management does nothing. It's a way to discourage customers from closing loan on a timely basis so that the bank can make that extra money by the delays. They will not even stop the daily interest charges so a customer like me is not able to close the loan even when I want to and incurring the interest charges for no fault of mine. If I do stop paying the EMI's, I will be penalised by all means. Need help in closing the loan without going to the branch at the earliest and without paying any interest for the delays that have been caused because of their process issues which look deliberate on their part otherwise why would they keep only this part out of the Digital Banking/Online banking purview
