Axis credit carf - No charged applied on Axis Credit Card

I haved applied for credit card from Tamluk axis bank and received it on **/**/**** by post no **** **** **** **** .But I didnot active it. Last year may I have received msg that some charges of Rs **** applied on it . Then I visited nearest Axis Bank Midnapur Branch and they Suggested me to deposit the amount and then called toll fee no *********** for canceled it. I did same and they assured me that my card will be cancelled within * days. But Resently on **/**/** to till date I have got msg and phone call for charges against my same card of Rs **** . Now I call same toll fee no ,they again told me same process. Why they didn't cancelled it then?.Why I have to pay this amount ?
