Jayaditya Gaikwad filed complaint against upgrad on Jun 21, 2024
In February, Aman Raj Kesari contacted me from upgrad for a Master's degree abroad. At that time I was interested in it. I thought of taking an education loan to handle my education expenses.
But as we held meetings with the representative. It was informed to me that the * lakhs needed to be paid upfront either by one-time payment or personal finance. I was hesitant at first because I was not financially stable to handle any personal loans. I even brought it up a few times to the Upgrad representative Aman Raj, I have a recording dated on ** Feb ****, before I initiated the personal finance process, which was done on **nd Feb).
In the recording, Aman mentioned the loan could not be done in my account due to me not being employed.
However a few days later he continued to spam me with calls, and in one of those instances, he mentioned "We have good news. We've managed to get the permission to get the loan in your account, your mother's account or documents will not be needed, we just need yours" I told him no, I don't want to do this, since I'm jobless, financially I'm not good right now. And *k of EMI is a lot. I could exhaust my emergency savings.
Yet he pressured me into making a decision, as evidenced by the fact that the loan is in my account and, he was assuring me that I could cancel it anytime, if I wished to do so, by simply going to my bank, and filling a form for cancelling e-Nach mandate Of course when I, actually tried to do it. The bank denied this. When trying to speak with the said representative, back then he did not respond properly.
I've been misled by Upgrad into making a decision that is causing me extreme harm to my mental health, and an extreme financial burden to my family. I don't want to continue to do to anything with this program, and more so when I'm not taking part in anything of this course, especially after being falsely led into this by fake assurance that I can fall back with no consequences, by Upgrad representative. I request your prompt action against this and a refund of the money to the loan partner Propelld. I am not using the services, and I want the money back. I have been requesting Upgrad for more than * months. I have a few recordings, which match my claims, about being mislead, and his awareness of my financial situation, I have told the representative countless times, I have one such recording dated **th feb, before doing the bank mandate, and he called me so many times to finish this mandate, refund period was only until ** Feb.
the refund policies are very one sided this is not fair, and time and time again I have been saying I am not financially stable, and now also so why was the loan done in my account? when I was not able to produce my employment status.
I was unemployed and my main focus is survival and cannot afford this. I need a refund, I cannot survive.
I only made the mandate on **nd February, after he assured me, multiple times, on multiple occasions before this date, the same ability to cancel the mandate and get out of this course, before the first EMI is paid.
The course commencement was on the **th Feb according to the Upgrad and the Upgrad representative, clearly not enough time to make a sound judgement, and if I wanted to do this course. I wouldn't have taken *-* weeks from the time of **k seat booking to do the mandate. You can see the call logs and how many times he attempted to contact me to make the mandate post-seat booking fee payment.
Had he not misinformed me about the EMI thing and the cancellation of the course? I wouldn't have gone through with this.
There is no way I would go with the * lakhs loan on considering my awareness of my situation[ This is as indicated by the recording dated **th Feb (* mins)], where I told aman that my financial isn't good, and I can't pay the emi's. So, isn't it bad to decide to go with this course?. The answer is because of what he told me and I chose to trust him. I am in no place to pay EMIs. For the two EMIs I've paid, people are asking for the money back. But if I have to pay for this cource when I'm not even using it, I'd rather sell whatever I have and struggle but go with legal battle with everything I got, until I die. The personal finance company, Propelld is now sending me notice probably next week. I need to get this solved.
My points and the proof I have is enough to support my claims about what I was told by the upgrad representative. And I've repeated the same thing over calls to upgrad support since last * months.
I am very pleased with Voxya. They helped me resolve my issue without much hassle. Very impressed and satisfied.
