Samsung Galaxy Plus - Mal functioning of mobile phone

I had purchased Samsung A* plus mobile (IMEI/Serial No. ***************) on **/**/**. From March’**, it started hanging off and on. Till date, I visited Samsung Service centre thrice, first in March’*, second in June and the third yesterday on **/**/**.
During earlier two visits, they updated the software and advised to save all the files in SD card. The problem never got shorted out, the frequency of reoccurrence increased with the age of the phone.
Yesterday, they updated the software again but phone was not getting on after updating. They informed me that the mother board is faulty and it has to be replaced. The cost of the same is Rs.****/-.
This type of service was never expected from Samsung. . This is very shocking to me for being a very old and loyal customer to Samsung. If the same would have been informed during my first / second visit, the cost would have been covered under warranty. Please help.
