May I introduce myself at the outset. I am a senior citizen aged ** years and retired Asstt.Executive Engineer from the Ministry of Defence (BRO) residing in Sukumar Roy Sarani, Near Tarun Tirtha club , North Bharatnagar, Siliguri ******.
I filed a online complaint to Govt of WB Directorate of consumer affairs FBP on ** Mar **** who received my complaint vide Grievance No, ****/**** dated ** Mar **** but no further action seems to have taken at their end.
On ** March **** at about **.** am. I went to the White-Man outlet at Gurusaday Road, North Bharatnagar with the following clothes for handing over for laundry services : Terry Woollen suit navy blue striped(* pieces), Terry woollen coat Grey check (*piece) and Woollen Panjabi Creme colour (*piece). All above items were mine and so obviously of adult size
On entering the said outlet, I saw a lady was sitting on a stool with her open mouth appearing as if she was sleeping. A child was probably writing on a copy at the ground inside the counter who gestured to me not to raise the sound. He went to the lady (might be his mother) and gave a jerk to her to wake her up. After waking up, she was so confused and puzzled that she wrote peculiar nomenclatures of clothes on the bill. She wrote a blazer for the Terry wool coat and shirt for the Panjabi. On pointing out the same she amended by cutting the bill wrote Panjabi. I have been getting my Laundry services from laundries since last few years but never such negligence was noticed regarding writing details of clothes. Anyway, I went to take delivery of the above clothes on ** Mar **** and took the delivery by paying ₹***/-. On reaching home, which is only * minutes away from the outlet, I found all other items were intact but the Panjabi was the size of a child. Since there is no child in my home and I live with my wife I went back immediately to the outlet and complained to the lady who completely denied having any such change in clothes. She further insisted that it was the same I had given for laundry. She insisted on wearing it there to prove that it was mine. Despite protests by me I tried to wear it in her presence but it did not come through the even my shoulders. Length was also too short. She neither assured me to check it through her source of delivery saying that she had personally tagged the clothes so there cannot be any fault. At the time of delivery and following hot discussions one gentleman, maybe her husband, was also sitting. Later, on her assurance that she will call me next day to inform the actual position after getting clarification from the factory, I left the disputed Panjabi with her and took back the receipt duly endorsed by her about non receipt of Panjabi for which I already paid for its laundry. However, not getting any call from the outlet, I called her at *.** pm on ** Mar **** when she told me that the company cannot do anything in this matter. I called to mobile# *********** which I found from the website of Whiteman Laundry. The call was responded by some Ritu Agrawal (as per truecaller id) who took the Bill # and told me to wait. After sometime a call from mobile# *********** (named Lokman Ali) was received who heard the matter and said that we have to check the tag and verify whether the cloth was changed or otherwise. He told me to wait till Monday ** Mar ****. On ** Mar ****, having got no phone from Lokman Ali, I called him. He said that he had checked the tag and the clothes were correctly dispatched to the Bharatnagar outlet. I asked him about why the date on Panjabi tag was ** Mar **** whereas tag of suit and other coat was ** Mar **** and clothes were given on ** Mar **** itself? He could not reply this.
In view of above, may I request to investigate the matter in details and the original cloth (Woollen creme colour adult Panjabi) be returned along with price of laundry already paid to me. Alternately, a compensation of ₹****/- be paid towards the cost of lost cloth viz. Panjabi along with ₹***/- towards harassment and mental agony inflicted to me
