Spacewood Furnitures - Inordinate delay in delivery and installation of almirahs and vanities

We paid Rs *.* lakhs advance for installation of * wardrobes and * vanities at our residence in Gurgaon. The promise was total installation and set- up by February end, this has not happened even after * months, if fact, as they have divulged after much follow- up, that materials have not even been manufactured at their factory as yet.
The CEO is unresponsive and delegates to his subordinates who have expressed their inability to execute our order.
The points to be noted are-
*. SpaceWood took our order knowing fully well that they were NOT in a position to execute it on time, as they knew fully well that a fire had taken place at their factory. They informed us this AFTER we had paid the advance. Was that ethical?
*. There cannot be ANY plausible explanation of a company of their size and repute, as they claim to be, to not be able to resolve customer grievances even after FIVE MONTHS of due date except for the intent NOT being there? They now keep harping on lockdown in Maharashtra, no movement, etc, but their DELIVERY DATE was latest by FEBRUARY END, while the lockdown happened well after mid- April!!! As of date, even complete parts and materials are yet not received at their store house from their manufacturing plant!! Nobody is responsive enough to update us on the status of delivery. This is a complete breach of trust and contract with me, the client! They keep giving false assurances of material being in dispatch or at their warehouse ready for delivery, but after "n" number of follow-up when it comes to installation then it is revealed that they do not have any material that we had ordered!
*. Further, I have learnt from credible sources (their own carpenters) that SpaceWood completed installation of wardrobes in record time for a certain Minister in Delhi even during the lockdown period. I am sure it was at the cost of keeping my work pending!
*. It is us, who need to pursue them for delivery and installation as there is hardly any remorse or loss of face from their end. One of their employees who visited us after umpteen follow- ups did no more than to gloat over the carcasses they had installed. Yet, a carcass is merely that- a dead shell!!
*. We cannot keep waiting indefinitely for items to be manufactured, delivered and installed at their convenience. Obviously, there are issues in manufacturing, delivery to warehouse, installation, as well in quality control!! Stressful to say the least, not to mention the cycle of endless calls and messages to their team to inform them of defective and wrong deliveries, unfinished and tardy installation. As we have experienced, in spite of tall quality claims of edge bending technology, state of art machinery, etc, these are mere claims- as proven by our experience and the pictures we had taken and sent to the MD as well.

We have made three payments to SpaceWood. Status of installation is as follows-
Due Date for * Almirah - Feb. end max (payment made on Jan. * and Jan. **)
*. Lobby- Carcass only
*. BR *- Carcass only, * drawer panel mismatched
*. BR *- Installed. Handles defective, no locks, looking glass missing
*. BR *- Carcass only
*. Couples BR- Installed, * panel defective, locker knobs missing.
NO Cleaning, Polishing/Finishing done on any.

Due Date for * Vanities- Mid March max. (payment made on Feb. *)
* vanities - Just */*th carcass installed, */* remains to be delivered
* vanity of BR *- Only */* carcass and shutters installed, no profiles installed.

SpaceWood has already managed to spoil our joy of acquiring a new house and whatever hopes we had of having a quiet family celebration after settling in, are sadly, shredded on account of a dismal company such as this.
We had bought a house to live in, yet they have managed to convert it into a dump yard and even after five months of moving in we are forced us to live out of cartons as yet!! The Company has lost credibility as well as our faith.
I am sure a local carpenter would have been more responsive, delivered on time, not cost us a bomb and MOST IMPORTANTLY, been empathetic of customer needs!!!
I do not believe they are equipped to honor their promise of delivery and installation of the almirahs or vanities to us anytime in the future too as on calling them they are still unable to provide a definite answer regarding the materials being ready and at their warehouse. I had expected a satisfying experience, not a harrowing and deceitful one. The total order value was Rs *******. In view of the extreme distress and harassment that SpaceWood has caused us, I ask for compensation of Rs ** ***** as a deterrent against unethical practises, making false promises to lure consumers mis-selling, being unempathetic to client needs and not honoring the delivery commitment!
They need to take responsibility for breach of contract and to reimburse us an additional amount equal to the sum paid to their company - for the time lost, the mental agony, extreme inconvenience and their tardy attitude to customers.
