Go first airlines - Go First Airlines Refund airline ticket amount not received yet for flight not operational

I had booked a flight from Bengaluru to Varanasi & return trip via Go First airlines with details as below :
*. Bengaluru to Varanasi :
Travel date - **th August ****
PNR - DYEF*D
Flight number : G*-***
*. Varanasi to Bangalore :
Travel date - **th August ****
PNR - A*J*FJ
Flight number : G*-***
Booking date : *th February ****.
Later on **th May ****, I got a mail that both my above bookings have got cancelled because the flight has become non-operational. Upon contacting, I was told that full refund will be processed to me because the flight itself is not operational.
Till date I have followed up multiple times, but still I haven't got my refund amount credited to my bank account/original mode of payment. Its been more than * months now. Every time I get the same response that it will be refunded, but I don't get a date or timeline by when I will get my amount.
The total cost of the to & fro ticket is ***** INR. It is a huge amount which I am yet to get back from the airlines.
Why is it getting delayed so much? Does it take so much time to process refunds? While booking tickets the amount is debited immediately from customer's pocket, then why so much delay in refunding the amount?
Pls credit the amount at the earliest and give sufficient justification for the prolonged delay in refunding the same.
