Shriram Fortune - Fraudulent activity by agent

I have a couple of Assured Income Plans under Shriram Life Insurance for which I have been paying a regular yearly premium since ****. However, this year I was finding it difficult to continue with both the policies and hence decided to talk to a representative from Shriram Life regarding the possibility of discontinuing one of them. A senior agent from the Kolkata, Hazra office of Shriram Fortune who has been the liaison officer at the time of the issuance of the policy Mr Rajib Ray told me that this would be possible and I should be able to discontinue one of the policies stating specific reasons.
After his assurance, I provided him with all the necessary documents towards the cancellation of the policy, including an application letter, a cancelled cheque and paid him INR **** towards the cancellation fees (as stated by him at that time). I also submitted the original policy document upon meeting him in Kolkata a week later. He kept on telling me that I will get the entire amount of INR **,*** (* instalments of a premium of **,*** each given over * years since ****) and nothing would be deducted as penalty. This was around the *rd week of March.
After that, I went overseas in April to pursue my work there and kept in touch with him regarding possible updates with respect to the cancellation and the disbursement of the amount. He repeatedly kept on reassuring me that the amount would be credited to my account very soon. After almost * months of losing patience, I contacted his superior in the same office who told me that the cancellation of that policy would not be possible under any circumstances and that I have been duped by Rajib Roy on false promises. He also said that even if I am able to cancel the policy, the surrender amount would only be given at the end of the **th year from the commencement of the policy.
I would urge you to help me recover the money that I gave to Rajib Ray and also would like to warn other prospective customers against the unscrupulous activities of Rajib Ray.
