Michael kabamba filed complaint against SMARTFARES OMANAIR on May 24, 2021
Hello,
I booked a flight ticket for May *, **** on SKYSCANNER.COM. After selecting a fare I was redirected to SMARTFARES.COM to complete my booking, I had to travel from NEW DELHI (INDIA) to KINSHASA (D.R.CONGO), and the airline responsible for my ticket was Omanair.
At the airport when checking in, I was refused boarding on the pretext that people traveling from India were not allowed to transit through Muscat (Oman), I contacted directly via Chat box smartfares which is the agency where I booked the ticket and they advised me to tell the Oman agent not to mark me as NO-SHOW and that's what I did.
I really couldn't travel that day so I asked the travel agency to reschedule my flight but they told me they can only do it with the same airline which is Omanair and the same itinerary but we could not proceed then knowing that all Omanair ticket always goes through Muscat to Oman and I am not allowed to enter Oman from India.
We eventually had to cancel the ticket and request a refund, but in order to proceed with the refund process they needed to confirm with Omanair that I SHOWED at the airport and instead was denied boarding because There is no refund for the NO-SHOW passenger.
They sent the mail to the airline and I was confident waiting for confirmation because I know I was really at the airport and was rather denied and in this state I have the right to ask reimbursement.
It took almost a month to get the response from the airline and to my surprise they said I was NO-SHOW so there is no such refund for my ticket.
I don't know who exactly the liar is, the airline or the agency.
I explained to smartfares that it was not correct but they told me this is what the airline said and that they have to follow, they also told me that I can contact the airline myself to confirm it but it is not possible because the airline told me that I had booked the ticket through a travel agency and I have to deal with them.
But what is sure one of them is lying, either Omanair is lying that I was NON-SHOW or the smartfares lies that they are getting this response from the airline and this is just an excuse to not refund my ticket.
