Pratishtha Sharma filed complaint against Content Hub Delhi on Jun 20, 2024
I got an email from an account that looked identical to an official freelancer.in account I contacted them over WhatsApp as the only link available to the project was via whatsapp.
They were very quick in awarding me the project. And they asked me to for a security deposits of *% from the full project payment amount which was **k. I asked for confirmation before proce with the transaction and they said there was a typing error and the amount is actually *% for the security deposit. I went forward with paying them the *** INR amount.
Then they said that we need to sign an IP agreement since it's my first time working with the company. The IP agreement free was ****, which I was supposed to pay. They said it needs to be paid within a * hour deadline, so I asked for a link to be project on the freelancer website so that I could pay the fee there. But the employer asked me to pay the amount to their own UPI account, the same account that the security deposit *** rupees were sent to. They told me that this is a sponsored project so it's not going to show up on the freelancer website as it's not posted on there. I paid the IP fee. I recieved an email asking me to send my Adhaar and Pan documents, e signature and a passport sized picture with fot rhe Agreement. I sent it. The employer said that the project will show on my freelance profile within a few hours after doing some but it didn't show up, even the next day.
So I contacted the employer about this and they said they'll raise a query.
But at this point I was suspicious and to check if this was a scam or not I checked on Google accounts and all of the accounts, the employers account, the freelancer account that initially sent me the email about the opportunity, and the account that asked me for documents, were all being operated on and through the same device.
I doubts were confirmed about this being a scam at that point because why would the employer's Gmail account and the official freelancer.in account have the same device.
Meanwhile the employer asked me that the freelancer person is saying that the IP agreement gas not been completed because I didn't provide proper documentation and that I need to take pictures with my Adhaar and Pan card and then sent it.
I told them that this is too complicated for me and I have never been asked to do so before. So I would Like to retract from the project and have my security deposit and the IP fee back since the contract has not been signed yet.
The employer said that they have the security deposit amount but the IP fee has already been processed. i asked them to show me proof of the transaction, if the fee has really been paid I'll let it slide. They got defensive and asked me if I'm accusing them of fraud to which I politely refused and said that I have to right to see the transaction because I paid an amount to you that's supposed to be the fee for the IP contract. Like I also sent transaction proofs of the security deposit and IP fee, that doesn't make me a scammer or a fraudent person, same goes for them.
Then they said that I am making unnecessary arguments and that because me their **k project amount is struck on freelancer.in and if I do not sent the proper documents again by the evening, I am going to face some severe consequences.
They said that they're stepping out of the conversation because they have self respect and that's their priority.
I asked them if the transaction is already made why is there so much trouble about sharing a simple receipt. And why would all of these email accounts be using the same device and why is the employer using the same device as the supposed official freelancer account.
They just said that I will face serious consequences if their **k gets struck because of me and left the conversation.
Now my **** rupees have gone and they're not replying back to me.

I am very pleased with Voxya. They helped me resolve my issue without much hassle. Very impressed and satisfied.
