C and B freelancers - Deficiencies in Services and Failure to Deliver as Agreed
Manish Kumar filed complaint against C and B freelancers on Jan 8, 2025
I engaged the services of C and B Freelancers (https://candbfreelencers.com) for a software development project. During our initial discussions, they assured me that the project would be completed within one week. Despite providing clear instructions, an upfront payment, and a pre-existing codebase to expedite the process, the company repeatedly failed to meet expectations. Updates were inconsistent and of poor quality, key features were either incomplete or entirely missing, and the delivered work was hardcoded, non-scalable, and contrary to the agreed-upon dynamic approach.
The timeline of one week, which was initially promised, was significantly exceeded. The project was poorly managed, with constant delays and excuses. As a result, I had to step in and take over critical aspects of the work, often working overnight under immense pressure to complete the project and meet my client’s expectations. This caused substantial disruption to my schedule, added stress, and negatively impacted both my professional and personal well-being.
Despite their inability to deliver the promised work, C and B Freelancers demanded additional payment and issued legal threats under Section ***. Their lack of professionalism, failure to adhere to the agreed requirements, and disregard for the timeline have left me to shoulder the financial, emotional, and workload burden of completing the project independently.
I present a detailed account of the events and issues encountered during this engagement.
Initial Agreement: On **th December ****, I held an initial meeting with c and b freelancers wherein I clearly outlined the requirements for the project, including the desired functionality, user interface, and scalability of the product. The timeline proposed by the contractor was one week for delivery of the completed work. In this meeting, I also requested a per-day breakdown of the work plan, which was not provided.
Following this meeting, I made an advance payment of Rs **** on the same day (**th December ****) to begin the project. Additionally, I supplied the contractor with starting code that already contained much of the user interface (UI), to expedite the process.
Lack of Timely Updates and Delays in Work Delivery:
On **th December ****, I received a basic update of the vehicle page. However, after this, I had to repeatedly follow up with the contractor to receive progress updates.
On **th December ****, I was sent a video showcasing a filter page, which did not meet the expectations outlined in the initial meeting. I promptly provided feedback, indicating that the direction of the work was incorrect and that it needed to be revised.
On **th December ****, the second-to-last day before the agreed deadline, I actively requested updates, but was informed that a change in developer had occurred, raising concerns about the continuity and quality of the work.
By **th December ****, there was no update provided. When I asked again on **th December ****, I received a response on **th December ****, stating they would connect, but no one attended the meeting on **th December ****. When the meeting finally occurred, the developers appeared confused about the project scope, further raising my concerns.
Failure to Understand Project Requirements and Implement Changes: Despite my clear instructions during the meetings, which were also recorded, to adopt a dynamic content approach—ensuring that the product would be adaptable for different categories—the contractor opted for a hardcoded, predefined approach. This decision was in direct contradiction to the requirements I had expressed in our discussions. Each time I pointed out this issue, the contractor justified their approach without addressing the critical need for a dynamic system, making it clear that the project was not proceeding in the agreed direction.
Additionally, features that were fundamental to the project, such as the admin panel, light gallery, and the proper layout of the admin panel, were either missed entirely or poorly implemented. The product’s user interface, which I had emphasized must remain uncompromised, was not delivered to the agreed standard.
Project Management and Communication Breakdown: Throughout the project, there were consistent communication failures. The project manager, Mr. Likith Kumar C G, appeared unaware of the requirements discussed in our initial meetings and did not seem to have a clear understanding of the development process. As a result, there was a significant disconnect between my expectations and the work being delivered. Despite my attempts to help the developers, who appeared to lack experience, improve their understanding of the project, the situation only worsened.
Substandard Work and Non-Compliance with Requirements: On *th January ****, the contractor presented further work that was even worse than the previous updates. I had hoped that the issues raised would be addressed and improvements would be made, but instead, the work continued to be unstable, unsatisfactory, and did not align with the requirements I had outlined in the videos and documents provided.
Request for Further Payment and Threats of Legal Action: Despite the continued subpar work, the contractor demanded additional payment. I withheld further payments, as the work did not meet the agreed-upon standards. Instead of addressing my valid concerns, the contractor began to justify their inability to follow instructions and deliver quality work. They are now threatening to file a legal complaint under Section ***, accusing me of not honoring my payment obligations.
As a consumer, I believe it is my right to receive the service I paid for, within the agreed-upon timeline and to the specifications that were clearly outlined at the beginning of the project. The contractor's failure to deliver the work as promised, and the repeated delays, poor communication, and substandard quality, have left me with no choice but to withhold payment until the work is completed satisfactorily.
Conclusion: I have attached the documents and videos that demonstrate the difference between what was promised and what was delivered. The discrepancies are clear, and I am confident that I have upheld my side of the agreement. I request that this matter be considered in the interest of fairness, and I seek resolution to get compensated for the failure to meet the terms of our verbal agreement.
Failed to meet requirement:
Failure to implement product addition functionality.
Inadequate error handling, leading to poor user experience.
Lack of scalability in the delivered solution.
Substandard user interface (UI) design and execution.
Appointment feature is non-functional.
"Contact Us" feature does not work as intended.
Failure to follow standard UI practices for the admin panel.
Delivery timeline significantly exceeded the initially agreed period.
