Hello,
I purchased a pair of headphones (worth Rs.****)on **rd April,**** from “Amazon.in” for which I paid through my debit card …….realizing I had put the wrong delivery address I called Amazon’s customer care ….where they told me that the delivery address cannot be changed, hence I should order a new pair and cancel the current order and wait for the refund of the canceled order. I did exactly the same but the refund I never received.
I have called Amazon’s customer care * to * times since, asking why I haven’t received the refund?
The first time answer I got was that they have initiated the refund ….and I should contact my bank …So, I did follow their instructions and called my bank (SBI), the customer care of SBI confirmed to me that they have received no payment and that they are not holding/blocking any payments to my account ….and for reference they asked me for the “Transaction ID/UTR No. Which has to be provided by Amazon………………So, I again called Amazon and they told me they only have a “refund reference number” ….So, again I called SBI’s helpline and explained ……they responded by making me understand that even to help me to trace a transaction this “refund reference number” is of absolutely no use and they can do nothing with it ……they also explained that online payment goes through many stops (technically).
So, I again called Amazon ……..also to mention here at Amazon.in’s customer care, every time I had to explain this case from A to Z to a new person as they always have a different person on the line and they never gave any follow up ! …………So, I again explained and asked for the “Transaction ID/UTR No.” ……in response Amazon.in told me that they only have “refund reference number” and asked me to fill a charge dispute form with my bank (SBI)……… So, again I dutifully opened the online charge dispute form ….which again could not be submitted without the “Transaction ID/UTR No” …….So, again I called Amazon.in and explaining the situation ……..the response I got was “they can do nothing about it”…….. I explained perhaps they should contact the seller ….they told me again that they have initiated the refund but they cannot talk to the seller….. again to mention here that the seller on the Amazon.in website as well as the product were both certified as Amazon PRIME (which is their added certification that this a verified seller and a verified purchase)……. but Alas!
The equivalent of this situation is that I go to a shopkeeper and return an item for which he assures me that he will pay the refund tomorrow, but tomorrow he says he has given my refund amount to a random person (who I don’t know), who was supposed to give me the amount …and that it isn’t his problem the money hasn’t reached me.
I again called Amazon.in explaining that I bought and item on basis of the trust of Amazon.in and I only know Amazon.in so they should definitely look into it and at the very least they can provide me the “Transaction ID/UTR No.” as what they are doing is a massive breach of consumer rights and trust.
At this point they assured me that they will give me follow up and sort this out soon ……It has been months but I received no follow up or response or any of the asked details.
Here I would like to mention that the exact same thing has happened to me courtesy of Amazon.in two years back as well …..I had complained to their customer care then also…but as the amount as of *** something rupees …..I eventually got tired of calling them and explaining.
Now I again I observe, that this seems to me like a deliberate pattern, a movement to deprive people of their money…..as they never call back regarding a complaint and every-time explaining your issue to a whole new person at the end of their customer care line ……. it is really mentally tiring.
If this has happened to me twice ….I presume the probability of this happening to the huge population of our country must be high also!
I request your help to sort this matter and also to further inquire about what exactly is going on ?and how can this much of a massive breach of consumer rights take place.
