Trip to Thailand (bangkok+phuket), booked via yatra
Worst trip, totally mismanaged and utterly disappointing.
Below I have listed all the issues that we faced throughout our trip
*. Day * (**/*/**) -Private transfer to airport.
We called the local agency the previous day to confirm the pick up time. Although original time as per voucher was ** midnight, it was rescheduled to *am. We reached hotel lobby at *:** am. After waiting for ** minutes when nobody showed up, we called to local emergency number, we were informed that the driver came at * am and as nobody was there he left. Even if he actually came at * am, there was no attempt to reach us. We checked with hotel receptionist and he confirmed that no taxi came looking for us. The worst thing is instead of helping, the local agency guy just hung up and refused to admit error on their part and provide any assistance. Tried contacting yatra helpline too as we called them too but no response from that as well. We doubt whether anyone actually came to pick us up or not in the first place. Finally left with no option, on the verge of missing our flight, hired grab taxi and spent **.* USD.
*. Day * (**/*/**) -tour to Floating market
The scheduled pick up time was *:** am. We reached hotel lobby at *.** am. And were told that guy came at *.** am. To add further to the confusion, since the hotel booking had my wife’s name as first guest while the tour had mine, they could not reach me or call our hotel room. We had tried contacting the local team to confirm the time a day prior, but as usual there was no response. The guy could have at least called us back when we called him a day prior. On contacting the local agent on **th morning, we were asked to take a private cab to reach a new meeting point. After the initial chaos, the local agent was indeed helpful but again we ended up paying *** THB.
*. Day * (**/*/**)- Bangkok city tour
While booking Bangkok city tour, it was clearly committed by booking agent (Mr Utsav) that Grand Palace and adjoining temples will be covered (please feel free to cross verify). We actually wanted a separate tour of the palace but advised against as it was repeatedly told that it would be visited in city tour, though time spent there would be less. But the guide took us to two other temples instead and said that Grand Palace and that area is not part of the package. It was one of the major attractions of the city and we repeatedly expressed interest in visiting the palace. We eventually booked a private cab (yet again!) paid *** THB, but unfortunately it was too late and the palace was closed and we had to return from the gate. You may refund us the fare but can you give the opportunity to see the palace as we may never visit the country ever again!
*. Day * (**/*/**)-Phi Phi Island tour (Phuket)
While booking for this island, we were told that we would be able to do water sports activities including snorkelling at this place. But on reaching the island, we were informed that we only have *-*.* hour stay, just enough to have lunch and go back. For doing water sports, package is different which allows you to spend *-* hours on the island. We had no option but to return disappointed
*. Day * (**/*/**)-James bond Island
we were with a group of ** people. There was an activity of canoeing during the tour. Although this was never mentioned before, but it was quite surprising to know rest ** out of ** people had canoeing included in their package except us. The tourists were from all sorts of places and must have booked from different agencies but the fact that only * of us dint have it in our package, does create doubts and reflects cost cutting at all the levels even on basic packages which should have been included. We paid *** THB for the same.
*. Day * (**/*/**)-Phuket city tour
Again, no major attractions like Big buddha temple etc were covered- instead most of the places we were taken to were nothing but simply paid activities. It was a disappointment too but to be honest this was nothing to what unfolded on subsequent days on our trip
The accommodation in Phuket (Bel Aire) lacked basic amenities like soap, room service etc. Staff was rude and unhelpful. We had our concerns while booking as well based on the reviews but we were reassured. We even sent a mail regarding the same while on trip, but there was no reply.
To summarize, we paid an extra:
Total - **.* USD + (***+ ***+ ***) THB = RS **** (approx) plus Amazon voucher promised beforehand
But I am not sure how are going to repay and make up for all the inconvenience caused at every step.
It seemed like a very poor communication on your part with local touring agency and complete lack of supervision in ensuring the committed inclusions.
We were planning the trip for months and honestly, has been completely ruined we feel nothing but cheated.
