Hello,
I have been using Samsung Galaxy Note * for the past * and half year. It is one of the best model which was manufactured by Samsung as I was using the Samsung mobiles only for the past * years.
Like many others I have been also facing this Discoloration Issue after the March update. My display was changed to yellowish and black bars are appearing on display. Also, the phone is getting overheated after this update and sometimes the battery temperature shows ** - ** C also. I need to switch off the phone for some time and keep it aside to get it back back to normal. I have also reported the issue in Samsung's support forum in April and also mailed a complaint to their CEO desk team on April **th with all the pictures of the device.
My post in Samsung Support Forum : https://r*.community.samsung.com/t*/Galaxy-Note/Samsung-Note-*-Display-Discoloration-amp-Overheating-Join/m-p/*******
One of the executive from their CEO desk called me and I explained everything about the problem. But, he informed me that due to lockdown service centers are not open so get back to them after this lockdown is over. As I'm from Hyderabad we have lockdown till May end.
After posting in Samsung support forum I got many replies as they all are facing the same Discoloration issue after the March update. So, I've started a Telegram group to gather all who are facing the same issue. Later, when I googled for the solution I found that many websites have already reported this problem by April first week only including Forbes(Will add those site links at the bottom).
My group is also growing with new users day by day and everyone reported the same discoloration issue. As we all were reporting to the CEO desk and they started to give Free Of Cost repair(FOC) to the customers. However, after knowing this problem is happening in thousands of devices after the update they didn't give any official statement or acknowledge the issue publicly till now. After continuous follow ups they are providing the FOC or giving discounted service based on customer's dealing.
When I'm about to submit the device in the service center in June my device got a crack on Display due to the pressure while I'm sitting in a chair. I went to the service center and got the Job Sheet by explaining the discoloration issue. I don't know if they know the issue or not by that time but without any diagnosis they provided the Job sheet. Later I've reported the issue again to the CEO desk along with the Job Sheet.
Instead of providing the solution to the discoloration problem surprisingly they are pointing at the damage which has happened almost after * months of discoloration. I tried to explain to them, when this issue happened after the update I didn't have any physical damage or scratches or dents on my device. I requested them to check my phone pics in the initial complaint which was sent on April **th. It's almost * and half months and I'm requesting them to provide me the solution as they are already providing FOC to others for the same problem.
Later few of my group members also managed to get the FOC for their damaged devices. They successfully convinced their executives as the mentioned damages on the device were there much before and the device got this problem only after the update. As it was true the executives also provided the FOC approval. However, in my case they are not providing the FOC even though the damage happened after the issue and which is not at all relatable to the discoloration issue.
Why are they not treating all the customers equally? They have provided FOC to many customers and all are out of warranty devices. If they don't have any mistake why did they provide Free Of Cost display replace to many users who are reported to them.
Instead of acknowledging the issue they are saying it was developed through the normal usage. How can it be developed through normal usage for all the customers at a time right after the update only? In my case the service center has not taken my device for diagnosing the issue. However, they mentioned that "After an extensive research by our certified technical support engineer, we found that the product has developed a fault during its normal usage". How can they confirm without even diagnosing the device? It's clearly stating that they just want to sideline the issue with the lame reasons and they are just looking for silly excuses to say to customers so that they can save INR **,*** by this if the customer doesn't fight back.
Why should customers pay for a company's mistake? When they broke the display with faulty updates why don't they fix it? I've been asking the root cause analysis(RCA) document but they are not providing as they also don't know the exact reason for this problem however, asking customers to pay for display replacements. How much amount they gained by these replacements as many were saying in forums like they changed the display by paying their own money as they didn't know it was due to update before.
I've gone through so much mental trauma by using the device with this issue and I've sent dozens of mails to their team. SO, I'm requesting concerned authorities to look into the issue and provide me a needful solution as it has been four months since I've been facing the issue.
