Yesterday I had been to Big Bazaar (Future Retail Ltd) located at Esplanade One Mall, Bhubaneswar. Usually, we visit every month for shopping our grocery and we take our own bags. In total, we purchased ** Items worth Rs ****.**. While billing he asked if I wanted any extra bag and I said no as I had * bags with me. But while packing the bags there was a shortage and I requested him to provide me with a bag and he said that the bag is chargeable. When he gave the bag the name and logo of Big Bazaar were mentioned on both sides. I asked him that if you are charging me for the bag then why your name and logo is mentioned? He said that sorry sir we can't help with it if you want bag then you have to pay for it. Again I showed him that I have my bags with me and as I can't put all my items into it so I am asking for a bag and he rejected. I paid Rs * extra and then he gave me the bag.
Before visiting Big Bazaar we went to Lifestyle and purchased a T-shirt worth Rs *** and they gave me a premium quality paper bag with their logo printed for free but in Big Bazaar I purchased items worth more than Rs **** and they charged me Rs * for a simple non-woven bag with their logo printed on it.
If I am paying for the bag then it needs to be blank if your logo is over it then wherever I go afterwards everyone will see it and indirectly we are promoting and your branding is happening. It was Sunday evening and it took more than ** mins for the billing as there was a huge line on the counter. Just imagine how many bags they are selling every day and how much they are collecting for bags. When I asked my parents they said that whenever they purchase from big bazaar they pay extra for bag everything.
