I'm a Tata Sky subscriber. Last September (****), I subscribed to long duration pack -"South Sports Pack" for a year.
On Jan **, I quoted -
As per clause ** of the telecommunication (Broadcasting and cable) Services Standards of Quality of Service and Consumer Protection (Addressable Systems) Regulations, ****, “In case, the broadcasting services related to television have been availed by a subscriber with a lock-in period or the charges for subscription of broadcasting services related to television are paid in advance for a specific period by a subscriber in pursuance of any scheme offered by the distributor of television channels, the distributor shall continue to provide such services for such period to the subscriber without any increase in the price of subscription and without altering the other terms of subscription to the disadvantage of the subscriber.” (ref: https://m.timesofindia.com/india/trai-asks-dth-firms-to-honour-commitment-on-long-duration-packs-if-customer-wants/articleshow/********.cms).
I requested Tata Sky by mail to continue with my Long Duration Pack channels until September when my contracted pack expires. I received a call back from Tata Sky executive, the very same day and I was promised that the channels I paid for, would continue to stay until the expiry of my Long Duration Pack on September.
But without any intimation and my consent on March third week, the channels in my pack were dropped and Tata Sky started showing irrelevant channels with a new higher monthly tariff. When I reminded about the promise on Jan ** by a mail on Mar **, Tata Sky executives promised that they would get back to me after consulting their superiors (Request No. *DENXON*). But there were no follow-ups. I contacted them by social media, contact numbers, emails, etc. After a month, today (April **), I was informed by phone that Tata Sky will not oblige by their promise on Jan ** to provide the same channels until the expiry of Long Duration Pack for which I paid in advance on September ****. They're forcing me to change the pack. I'm ready to change the pack after Long Duration Pack period expiry in September. If I change now, I would be a disadvantage. I can't watch all the channels for the amount I paid for, until September ****. It will get exhausted in a month or two. I underwent a lot of mental stress because of this in the last one month period. Please do the needful and make Tata Sky abide the contractual obligation to provide the long duration pack for which I paid in advance. Now they're breaching the contract.
