Today when I reached the Chennai Airport on time i.e. prior to * hour on **th July **** I was denied boarding by airlines which I think was on account of overbooking of flights and despite of having confirmed tickets of Indigo Airlines *E-*** I couldn't reach Bangalore as scheduled. Airlines allow passengers to book their seats beyond availability however it can make someone a victim of such strategy especially when you are barred from boarding a flight without prior notice it leaves you stranded and causes a great deal of inconvenience. As far as I as a citizen know about my rights in such cases of denied boarding airlines are bound by DGCA regulations to provide compensation which ranges from providing alternative arrangements such as refund or compensation but to my dismay none of the alternatives was provided and on further questioning as to why I'm denied boarding pass they not only misbehaved but also kept on delaying in taking up my request frustratingly when I called up customer support they discourteously denied any help, to my thinking they have lot more confidence over the justice delivery system of our country which led them to challenge me over filing a complaint against them in any grievance redressal forum.
However I'm writing this post to make others aware about the tactics that's been recently trended up by airlines by denying the boarding of passengers and taking up advantage of vulnerable situation in such cases where the passenger has to reach on an urgent basis as in my case it was really urgent for me to reach Bangalore on time but I ended up paying additional *k as demanded by airline to get me on other flight without any fault on my side as I was on time so beware of this new trend of harassment by airlines as instead of apologies they’ll take advantage of your situation. I have attached the ticket which I booked after being denied the boarding by paying them additional *k.
