- Initially cancelled order then provided faulty devices (Apple Macbook Pro) TWICE from Flipkart Open
I purchased an Apple Macbook Pro i* *th gen **** through Flipkart India online portal on August **, ****. On August **, ****, I received two SMS’es and e-mails from Flipkart - one stating that ‘your order OD****************** has been canceled due to limited stock availability with the seller’ and the other stating that ‘your recent order OD****************** has been canceled as our systems have observed a trend in your purchase history that suggests that the items you've purchased are usually not intended for personal use’. Firstly, it escapes me as to on what basis Flipkart decides that a customer is buying items “not intended for personal use”. Secondly, I do not know how a single item can be canceled for two reasons. After sharing the incident on social media and several days of harassment, Flipkart allowed me to reorder the item with order id OD****************** on Aug **, ****.
I received the laptop on Aug **, ****. However, Flipkart sent a faulty product (serial no: C**Y****JHCD) with the battery backup of around *-*h. In this regard, I contacted Apple customer care (case no: ************). After the online diagnosis, the issue was not resolved. So, in keeping with Flipkart’s replacement policy, the technical support person suggested taking a replacement. Upon replacement, I received an Apple Macbook Pro (second time) (serial no: C**XM*G*JHCD) with *% battery backup (Comment: Replace Now) on Sep *, ****. Therefore, I again got in touch with Apple customer care (case no: ************). As the device was showing 'Comment: Replace Now', the customer care person suggests me to visit the Apple service center.
On Sep *, ****, I visited the apple service center (F* Infosolutions, *, Camac St, Elgin, Kolkata, West Bengal ******). After hearing the complete story, initially, the technician told me that the previous product was not faulty, and a battery backup of *-* hours is acceptable when streaming online videos from YouTube. His statement stands in complete contradiction with the online technical support person. To my dismay, I found that Apple, which is the best company for laptops, is giving me two different feedback for the same problem? So, where does the credibility of the company stand?
Regarding the current issue, the service center person ran some basic diagnosis (~*hours) and told that there is some issue with the battery which needs replacement. Nevertheless, he said he could only confirm after running the complete diagnosis which will take at least *-* days. Additionally, he also said that for replacing the battery the entire lower part, sans the display, will be replaced.
On Sep *, ****, the same person called me back and said that he will first replace the MLB. If the problem is not resolved he will replace the battery with the touchpad and keyboard. I am shocked at how the same person can make two different statements on two consecutive days? When I inquired as to what happened to his previous claim of replacing the entire lower part, he completely denied having said anything of the sort! He also seemed to have lost his cool during the telephonic conversation. Is it expected from a brand like Apple?
On Sep * and *, ****, I again contacted Flipkart and Apple customer care but they were unable to conclude anything. Flipkart person told to return the product. Apple customer relation person told either to return the product or go with the repair of the product in the Apple service center. It is not my fault that I have purchased the product from Flipkart. It is also not my fault that I got faulty devices, TWICE. However, I am the only one who is suffering through this entire episode. Although I have paid for a brand new Apple Macbook Pro, at the end of the story, Apple service center wants to provide me an assembled product (because they are partially replacing the device’s internal parts).
After these entire episodes, I found two options - either to accept the refurbished product or return that. Finally, I return this product and got the money back. I don’t know whether Apple simply wants to sell such defective products using Flipkart portal or Flipkart has its own vested interests, but the losers (both in mentally and monetary as Flipkart block Rs. *,**,*** for more than a month) are the customer only.
