- Goods damaged during house moving ^Open

I hired Ele Market Place Technologies (https://eleplace.in/) for my move from Mumbai to Bangalore. My house was packed up in Mumbai on Nov **, **** and was scheduled to be delivered in Bangalore on Nov **, ****.
At Mumbai itself, i started to see concerns on how things were being handled. Barring one or two of the packers, the remaining staff was disinterested and trying to rush through. Eleplace had a supervisor present through out and was assuring me that things were going fine. The impression I got was that he was not in a position to provide guidance. However, given they are the professionals I let them carry on as they know best. One eg. when the truck was leaving, I even mentioned that the truck was not secure and I was told it was fine since it was going from Andheri to Goregaon and will be secured there. I couldnt argue at the time with them but my worries began on Day * itself.

On the **rd Nov, when I was expecting my unpacking to happen in Bangalore, there was a lot of confusion - I was repeatedly told the truck is being loaded and is on its way but it never came that day. That was the first sign of things beginning to fall apart. On the **th, once the truck came to my house, we realised how bad the situation looked. Most of my household goods had been manhandled and arrived in abysmal condition.

The packers did not have an accurate count of the number of pieces that needed to be delivered. The master bedroom cot had a missing piece and could be assembled as the foot of the bed could not be located.

Further, the following items came damaged:
*. LG TV (**" LED) with internal and external damage.
*. Hitachi fridge (***+ ltr) door was broken.
*. IFB Microwave had internal and external damage.
*. The * seater sofa had one leg broken
*. Center table all legs were broken
*. The Dining table chairs came loose and the glass atop the table was broken into pieces
*. Study table came broken in half
*. Book rack was broken
*. Multiple lamp shades were broken
**. All photos, wall-hangings, etc with frames were compromised, and glass on top of the frames were broken
**. Shoe rack was chipped from the sides and the doors had come loose
**. Mirror was broken into pieces
**. Plenty of expensive Utensils and Crockery came broken (wine glasses, flute glasses, whiskey glasses,etc)
**. * box on a Bedside table container was broken
**. Wooden Lamps were broken

My car (Maruti SX*) was also transported by them and arrived only by December *, **** (as opposed to the promised date of Nov **).

As you can see from the list above, they did not leave much in good condition! I paid a total of Rs. **,***/- to Eleplace for the move and ended up spending Rs. **,***/- for the repairs (of atleast those that I could do). Eg. the Hitachi fridge door remains broken as even Hitachi has so far been unable to help me with a replacement. The TV repair cost was estimated at **,*** and I was advised to buy a new TV instead - which is what i did and spent about **K on that. Below is a break-up of the costs I have communicated to Eleplace:

Sofa and Cot Repair: *****
Frames : ****
TV: *****
Microwave: ****
Mirror : ***
Carpenter -**** for fixing rest of the furniture issues
TOTAL (not including fridge): Rs. *****

I'm tired of following up with them for the reimbursement - which I may add they have promised to give me. If and when it will ever come is the question and hence I want to take legal action.
