Advanced Beauty and Cosmetic Clinic based out of Chennai started giving franchise with a promise of return on investment within one year and opened more than ** outlets across India. We took two franchise outlets at Pune by paying franchise fees, marketing fees and investment on infrastructure and machines provided by them. In all, we paid Rs, *,**,**,***/- for the two outlets. The staff selection and management of the centers were with ABC and we were only investors. For opening outlets, we used our savings, took a loan from the bank and also from NBFC. Since the business was not doing well ABC started blaming the franchise partners for the poor sales and asked for additional money for marketing since everyone has put huge money few of us paid the additional marketing expenses and this put further burden on us by taking additional loans beyond our capacities with a hope the sales will pick.
By this time ABC started turning cold shoulder and stopped responding. We somehow arranged further funds by selling our assets and managed to run for the next few months. Then ultimately we could not manage and shut the clinics. The interior could not be used as it was tailor-made for the particular outlet. Machines were substandard and could not be sold, but ABC charged ** times the original cost and also didn’t supply few machines which they were supposed to add in the coming days. This situation has made us bankrupt and both bankers and NBFC team are harassing us due to the nonpayment of dues.
ABC Owner Mr. Raj Thiru has opened bars in the name of “Lords of Drinks” at Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkatta, by taking money from all of us in the name of franchise fees, marketing expenses, royalty and selling the substandard machines at ten times the market price. Such cheaters should be put behind bars and we should get our money back, as it has brought us on the road even our children's education is now at stake.
