I have placed an order on **.**.** for a Sectional Sofa through Pepperfry App. I availed the 'Furniture Mania' Sales and applied coupon code MANIA to get the discount and cash back.
After two days on **.**.** I received a text message from Pepperfry saying "Congratulations! You've received cashback worth Rs.**** in your wallet which expires on ** Oct! Visit http://bsft.io/z/vyx*u*bq"
And when I tried to use this cash back for purchasing another item, it was revealed to me that the cash back can only be used for **% of the value of item being purchased.
That means I have to purchase an item worth Rs. **,*** to be able to utilise the cash back earned on my previous order. That too within ** days or else the whole cash back will lapse.
I feel this is unethical on the part of pepperfry to not reveal such conditions before applying the offer code. I read all terms and conditions of the offer and nowhere I could find any clause which says anything about such a short and impractical validity of the cash back or about the limitation of use of this cash back.
Aggrieved by such hidden conditions about the cash back offered, I demanded that one of the following resolutions be provided to me at the earliest:-
*. Give a written confirmation that the cash back will not expire in such a short period and be available for using for a reasonable period (say * year minimum) AND the limitation to redeem only **% of the value of item will be relaxed and ***% can be used for any item.
OR
*. Refund the amount equivalent to the cash back in my bank account/card or in any general wallets like Paytm etc.
OR
*. If none of the above can be done, immediately cancel my order and refund full amount to my original payment mode (Credit Card).
But pepperfry.com in its response, denied my demand and sent a mail detailing the conditions. They said nothing about not telling these conditions before purchase or at the time of applying coupon.
