- We had booked a ticket through Easemytrip website for travel between Chennai-Mumbai-Chennai for the period **th to **th April (enclosed our ticket invoice).
- Due to Nationwide lockdown the flights were cancelled and from various news reports and airline websites we were given to understand that full ticket money will be protected in a credit shell and the same will be refunded after *st April ****.
- When we approached the Air India and SpiceJet websites and call centres for information on ticket amount in credit shells and refund of the same, there was literally no information available with them. Both the websites and their call centres failed to give information of balance available in the credit shell. However, spicejet confirmed that they have refunded the money to the agency through which booking was done (it was easemytrip in this case).
- There was no intimation from easemytrip regarding the refund of our ticket money from spicejet. We have no idea for how long easemytrip was holding our money without any information to us about the status of the refund.
-When we reached the easemytrip call centre, we were told that they have no information of the credit shell balance refunded by spicejet. However, we were asked to initiate the cancellation process on their app. On doing so we were shocked to see the refund information that was shared by easemytrip (enclosed mail from easemytrip).
-As you can see the total ticket amount spent was INR **,***, however we have received mail communication from easemytrip confirming that our total refund will be INR **,*** only. We have not been given any information about why there is a reduction from the ticket money paid, neither from the airline nor the agency (easemytrip).
You are well aware of the court orders stating that there will be full refund of passengers ticket amount along with an interest (*.**% per month upto June **** and *.**% per month upto March ****) . In our case, as you can clearly see we have been cheated by the airlines and the agency as we were kept in the dark about the credit shell balance all along and we have lost INR *,*** + interest component.
I would like to bring the main matter of concern in this entire episode, that throughout the whole communication with the airlines(spicejet) and the agency(easemytrip), we were denied the information on the exact refund amount/credit shell balance. So from this it is evident that one or the other had reasons to hide this information from the passenger(s) which is unacceptable and I am sure you will agree with me on this. After initiating the refund we common people/passengers have no means to fight the injustice and no proper redressal system is available with the airlines (spicejet) and the agency (easemytrip).
