Postal service is considered to be one of most cheapest modes of communication. Postal services in India have rapidly grown over the last few decades. India is a country with the largest network of post offices with its number being more than 1.55 lac’s as recorded in May 2008. There are more than 20 types of postal services with the most common being registered or speed post. Even though it is considered one of the safest means of communication, lapses have been seen over the past few years with various posts getting lost somewhere and not reaching its destination. In most of the cases it has been seen that the delivery boy has been at fault. So what can you do if you too are worried about the services offered by the post office or believe that they are not doing the work wholeheartedly and as a result you are recievng the documents late or sometimes not even receiving them? Let’s discuss the various ways in which we can file a complaint against the post office or the postman. Firstly you try to contact the customer care number of the Indian Post Office (1800 266 6868). Many complaints are resolved at this stage only as they value the customer satisfaction. Secondly go to pgportal.gov.in (Public grievance portal) and get yourself registered. Now click on lodge public grievance and then enter all your details correctly and select the department which you want to complaint against. Public grievance portal is an initiative started by the Central Government for addressing the grievances of general public. If you have any complaint regarding the behavior of the employees of the post office, you should contact the Post Master in charge. You can even call the superintendent under whose jurisdiction the Post Office falls and express your dissatisfaction regarding the services of the Post Office. Moreover, if the complaint is still not settled at this stage, then the consumer can approach the Chief Postmaster General of the respective area. The address of the Chief Postmaster General are provided here : https://www.indiapost.gov.in/VAS/Pages/CustomerSupport/Guidelines-on-Complaints.aspx
Moreover there are many online portals/consumer forums which help you in resolving the postal complaints such as Voxya which provides legal help and helps in sending the legal notice to the Post Office addressing the issue. We generally receive about 100s of postal complaints every month.
