On June *, ****, I was traveling with SpiceJet (PNR: CJUFXE) and became a victim of unethical, exploitative, and potentially corrupt behavior by the airline staff.
At the check-in counter, I informed SpiceJet staff that I was carrying a valuable luxury item, and they advised me to carry it in cabin baggage for safety reasons. Following this, I proceeded for boarding with a total of only **kg baggage (including hand luggage), which is within the allowed limit of **.*kg (**kg check-in + *.*kg hand baggage).
However, at the boarding gate, SpiceJet staff member Ms. Saptara (Employee ID: ******) shouted at me in a humiliating manner, claiming my bag was overweight. I was given an ultimatum: either pay ₹*,*** immediately or forget boarding the flight.
Key issues:
No prior warning was given that gate carriage could lead to extra charges.
Digital record shows I was charged for *kg excess baggage, while the physical receipt shows **kg – clear evidence of manipulated records.
I was never offered the option to return to the check-in counter or gate-check the bag as is standard practice.
A follow-up call from customer relations ended in minutes, where I was told to “ignore” the discrepancy in receipts and told that I was asked to carry the bag “for safety,” which is contradictory and absurd if I’m being charged for it later.
Till date, I have not received any official response, refund, or apology. This appears to be a well-practiced act of corruption targeting innocent passengers under pressure at the boarding gate.
Relief Sought:
Full refund of ₹*,*** forcibly collected without valid cause.
Written apology from SpiceJet.
Investigation into staff behavior and mismatch of official records.
Penal action against involved staff for misconduct and possible fraud.
Immediate changes in process transparency to prevent such passenger harassment in future.
This is not just poor service—this is exploitation. I request Voxya to take this matter forward with appropriate consumer redressal forums and regulatory bodies like DGCA and Ministry of Civil Aviation.
