Complaint filed against: Quikr
Quikr does not verify email address when someone registers on their website. So a month ago someone registered on their website and provided my email address. I started getting emails from Quikr from day one about this persons activities. Jobs he applied to and newsletters he subscribed to. Now the interesting thing is, I already had a Quikr account with that email ID. BUT my email id is firstname.lastname@example.org this other person created account using email@example.com (without using the DOT in the middle). For Google, both email addresses are same. But Quikr thought they are different. Even if they considered these two as different emails, they should first verify the address and not start sending me promotional emails.
This did not end there, I created a support ticket to raise my concerns and told them that someone is hijacking my email ID and missusing it, so please delete this account. They did not take any action. After repeated emails, they told me that my email has been removed. But the emails did not stop, so next day again I told them to stop this. They again told me its removed. But I am still getting those emails and that person continues to use Quikr under my email address. I would like Quikr to stop this malpractice of gathering email addresses and start spamming people through their newsletters and junk mails. THis is total harassment and gives me a sense of high un-security that anyone in this world can use my email address to create account on their website and also keep on using the account without problem.
The attached image shows that I have been exchanging emails since past many days, I will be able to provide detailed email communication when required by your legal team to substantiate my claim.
